Systems Analyst III - IT Asset Management (Hardware)

Job ID GT-1050

About the role

A county government IT organization is seeking a hands-on Systems Analyst III focused on hardware-centric IT Asset Management. You will ensure every physical technology asset across county facilities is located, verified, tagged, and accurately represented in the service desk platform and CMDB. The role covers field verification, device lifecycle processing, reconciliation, and ITIL-aligned process improvement. This is an onsite contract role in Milwaukee, WI, open to current Wisconsin residents only.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical walkthroughs across offices and remote sites to locate, inspect, and validate IT hardware
  • Reconcile physical hardware against CMDB records and correct inaccuracies and missing relationships
  • Run periodic reconciliation of CMDB records against network discovery, cloud management, and endpoint tools
  • Identify root causes of inventory drift such as ghost assets or missing serial numbers and propose fixes
  • Track device locations and movement during relocations, renovations, and refresh activities
  • Support the hardware lifecycle: receiving, tagging, imaging assistance, deployment prep, and retirement
  • Verify new hardware shipments against purchase orders and standards; capture warranty, age, and condition data
  • Maintain CMDB associations between hardware and users, business units, network segments, software, and tickets
  • Engage departments to understand hardware usage, deployment, and planned changes
  • Validate device requests and specifications against approved standards and support procurement
  • Coordinate secure disposal with proper chain-of-custody, data wiping, and vendor compliance
  • Help document hardware standards and participate in lifecycle governance discussions
